This route in the Northern Wainwrights is one of the easier days in the Northern Wainwrights, though quite long, Mostly over easy paths on gentle, peaceful hills in John Peel country. Lots of this route is very runnable.

The eastern fells of the group involve some out-and-back over bog, particularly the section to Carrock Fell, but that seems to be unavoidable.

This route is best done on a good day as mist would make navigation tricky, and the walk less interesting.

Alfred Wainwright calls Binsey "the odd man out" and a "viewpoint of outstanding merit". Doing Binsey first or last means you get low sunlight on a lovely view over Bassenthwaite towards the North Western Fells.

There's a free car park at the NE corner of Over Water.
